Spring. Summer. Autumn. Winter. Four seasons.
Each scent is usually perfect for a certain season depending on it’s fragrance notes. The fragrance notes determine whether it’s suitable for a particular season or even weather.
One of the main reasons behind this comes down to temperature.
Temperature does affect fragrances & here are the two main ways:
- The way it smells & develops
- How long it lasts
Temperature can also damage the actual scent, making it smell different or even fading quickly. The best way to store your fragrances is away from direct sunlight.
Why Change scents every season?
The same fragrance in the Summer will not smell identical in the Winter. This is because your natural odour will alter, sweating more in the summer & less in the winter.
Certain scents go hand in hand with the season & the weather. For example, in winter, it’s about Spicy, Warm, Oud & Woody scents. These are known as ‘Heavy’ Whereas in the Summer it’s about Sweet, Floral & Aquatic fragrances.
A spicy & warm fragrance in the summer would prove to be too overpowering.
Ultimately, changing your fragrance with the seasons is a yes from me & is highly recommended within the perfume industry! You will always smell your best, capturing the optimum performance of a fragrance & it’s fragrance notes.
